Craig Hankwebe’s story is deeply rooted in the rich soil of Zimbabwe, where he was raised by the strong matriarchs of his family - his mother and grandmother - alongside his cousins, who he lovingly refers to as his brother and sister.
His grandmother, a force of nature, took over the family farm in Zambia with unwavering dedication. She taught Craig that anything is possible with hard work and heart. No matter what he dreamed of, she made it happen, ensuring that from the age of 9, even while away at boarding school, he stayed connected to his roots in Zimbabwe and Zambia. Craig’s mother was equally influential, embodying resilience and love. She nurtured his love for learning and encouraged him to chase his dreams, no matter how big. Both women instilled in him the importance of staying grounded in his heritage while striving for excellence.
As a child, Craig often found himself indoors, immersed in books and eager to learn. This thirst for knowledge was more than a pastime; it was a window to the world beyond, a way to understand the complexities of life and the possibilities that lay ahead.
This powerful upbringing didn’t just shape Craig’s character - it ignited a fire within him for financial services. Witnessing his grandmother’s and mothers relentless effort to keep their family strong and connected, inspired him to dedicate his life to helping others. His first step on this path was in microfinance, where he found his calling in empowering people to take control of their financial futures.
Fate opened Craig’s eyes to limitless possibilities when his uncle made a bold career switch. Craig realised that the only limits in life are the ones we place on ourselves.
